DERBY PUBS

 TIGER INN

Location:  Near the Market Hall entrance, it is found by turning into Lock-up Yard, off the Cornmarket, where it faces down St James' Street.

Historical Information:  Situated in the Lock-up Yard, once the scene of the brutal murder of a policeman. It dates from 1737, when it operated as a coaching inn, and was originally a much larger. It was used by travellers between London and Manchester, when the frontage stretched as far as the Cornmarket. The building was restored in 1990.

Curiosities:  A popular stopping place for parties on ghost walks. The Tiger Bar, provides access for a subterranean trip down into the barrel-vaulted tunnels beneath the Guild Hall, in search of ghosts.
