DERBY CHRISTMAS LIGHTS - EVENTS AND SHOPPING 2008
THE FEATURE All the excitement of Christmas will soon be here, so prepare early and do not leave everything to the last minute. The arrival of Westfield takes Christmas shopping in Derby to an exciting new level. From cutting-edge fashion and stylish homeware to fine foods and the latest gadgets. There is though so much more to the shopping experience in the city, and both the historic Cathedral Quarter and The Lanes are home to a wide range of exclusive shops. The Christmas Light Switch-on is scheduled for the 16 November 2008. The Christmas Parade will leave The Spot to travel the short distance to the Market Place at 4.15pm, when Father Christmas will be present. Details of special Christmas opening hours and events are listed below.

WELCOME TO DERBY
A city of considerable character, surrounded by attractive countryside. With the Peak District National Park, the second most visited National Park in the world, only a few miles to the north and the National Forest a short distance away to the south. Located near the centre of the country, Derby has excellent communications and is well served by road, rail and air. The city lies at the junction of the main A6, A38 and A52 roads and junction 25 of the M1 is 15 minutes drive away. East Midlands Airport is an easy 12 miles drive to the south east of Derby.
